Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by Storage Upton Park in respect of the financial year ending 31 December and outlines the steps we take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. Storage Upton Park is committed to conducting business ethically, transparently, and with respect for the dignity and rights of every individual.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Storage Upton Park maintains a zero-tolerance stance towards all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, child labour, and servitude. We are committed to acting with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our own business or in any of our supply chains.
All colleagues, contractors, and suppliers are expected to comply with this policy and with all applicable laws relating to modern slavery and human trafficking. Any involvement in, or facilitation of, such practices is strictly prohibited and may lead to termination of employment or contractual relationships.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Storage Upton Park operates storage and related services. Our supply chains include, but are not limited to, building maintenance and construction services, security services, cleaning services, utilities, equipment and materials suppliers, and certain professional and administrative services.
We recognise that some parts of our supply chains may present a higher risk of modern slavery, particularly where goods or services originate from sectors or regions with weaker labour protections. We are committed to working progressively to identify, assess, and mitigate these risks.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We expect all suppliers and contractors to uphold the same high standards that we apply to our own business. As part of our supplier management processes, we endeavour to:
Require suppliers to confirm that they comply with relevant modern slavery and human rights legislation and that they do not engage in forced, bonded, or involuntary labour.
Assess new key suppliers for modern slavery risks through due diligence, which may include questionnaires, review of relevant policies, and risk-based screening.
Conduct periodic audits or assessments of selected higher-risk suppliers, either directly or through competent third parties, to verify compliance with our expectations regarding labour standards, working conditions, and ethical business conduct.
Where non-compliance or elevated risk is identified, we will work with the supplier to implement corrective actions within a reasonable timeframe. If effective corrective action is not taken, we reserve the right to reconsider or terminate the commercial relationship.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
Storage Upton Park encourages all employees, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to speak up if they have concerns or suspect that modern slavery or human trafficking may be occurring in our business or supply chains.
Concerns can be raised through internal reporting lines or directly to management. Reports can be made anonymously where permitted by local law. We will treat all concerns seriously, investigate appropriately, and take proportionate action where issues are substantiated. We do not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith.
Training and Awareness
We aim to promote awareness of modern slavery risks among colleagues, particularly those involved in procurement, supplier management, and site operations. This may include targeted training, guidance materials, and the integration of modern slavery considerations into procurement and onboarding processes.
Our objective is to ensure that relevant personnel are able to recognise indicators of modern slavery and know how to respond if they identify or suspect exploitation.
Monitoring, Governance, and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery sits with senior management, who review our controls, risk assessments, and any reported incidents. We aim to continually improve our processes and to adapt our measures as risks evolve and industry expectations develop.
This statement is reviewed at least annually to ensure that it remains accurate, reflects our current practices, and supports ongoing improvements. Where necessary, we will update our policies, supplier requirements, and training to strengthen our prevention and detection of modern slavery.
By publishing this Modern Slavery Statement, Storage Upton Park affirms its commitment to upholding human rights, promoting fair and safe working conditions, and contributing to the global effort to eradicate modern slavery and human trafficking.
